Overview

VanVault is built with your privacy in mind. All tool inventory data, photos, and maintenance records you enter are stored locally on your device with iCloud backup. We do not sell, share, or transmit your personal data to third parties.

Data We Collect

VanVault collects the following data solely to provide app functionality:

• Tool inventory data — tool names, serials, photos, maintenance records — stored locally on your device with optional iCloud sync
• Photos — tool photos you take within the app, stored locally and in iCloud if enabled
• AI scanning (Pro) — when you use the AI tool identification feature, your tool photo is sent to OpenAI's API to identify the tool. Photos are not stored by OpenAI beyond the API call.
• Purchase information — processed securely through Apple's App Store and RevenueCat. We do not store payment details.
• Anonymous analytics — basic crash reports and usage data via Expo/EAS to help us fix bugs

Data We Do Not Collect

• We do not collect your name, email, or any identifying information
• We do not require account creation
• We do not sell data to advertisers
• We do not share data with third parties except as required to process purchases or power the AI identification feature

AI Tool Identification (Pro Feature)

When you use the "Scan with AI" feature, your tool photo is sent through our secure proxy to OpenAI's API for identification. This photo is used only to identify the tool and is not stored or used for training. Our proxy enforces rate limits to prevent abuse and protect your API usage.

In-App Purchases

VanVault Pro is available as a one-time purchase. All transactions are processed through Apple's App Store. Once purchased, Pro features are unlocked permanently on your device.

Data Retention & Deletion

All app data is stored on your device and in your personal iCloud account. Deleting the app removes all local data. There is no server-side data to request deletion of.

Children's Privacy

VanVault is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Updates will be reflected on this page with a revised date.
